Ethics

Having strong ethics is a crucial trait to have when working in the cyber security industry. The industry as a whole deals with lots of sensitive information and data, so those working in cyber security must be trustworthy and have a good moral compass. Ethical hackers, or penetration testers, carry out their role of ‘breaking into’ networks within legal frameworks and in-line with agreements made with the company they are working for. Every action is documented, and pen testers work strictly within their agreements. Through red team assessments and ethical hacking, vulnerabilities will be demonstrated, meaning that those working around these vulnerabilities must never take advantage. To carry out cyber security work professionally and successfully, ethics are a key factor.
